Overview
- The Establishment Division notification, issued Saturday, September 12, 2026, formally posts Capt (Rtd) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry as Inspector General of Islamabad Police with immediate effect.
- Ali Nasir Rizvi has been transferred from the Islamabad IGP post and appointed Director General of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency, also by the same official orders.
- The transfers were made under Section 10 of the Civil Servants Act, 1973, and the orders will be published in the Gazette of Pakistan as the formal record.
- Chaudhry is a BS-20 Police Service of Pakistan officer and former army captain with recent roles in Lahore, Faisalabad and Multan and a reputation for firm operational leadership, which could change policing emphasis in the capital.
- The moves come as Islamabad Police rolls out an AI-enabled command-and-control system, a pairing that could speed real-time monitoring and push federal priorities toward stronger cybercrime investigation and more disciplined field operations.
