• Members of Queers for Palestine Ottawa stopped the parade on Wellington Street shortly after 1 p.m., protesting what they call the dropping of Capital Pride’s 2024 Palestine solidarity statement and issuing demands to the mayor and organizers.
• The event was paused for nearly two hours then cancelled when organizers said rerouting was impossible under their permit and they could not clear the staging area before the 4 p.m. deadline.
• Capital Pride says it negotiated in good faith but that protesters refused to move without a direct meeting with Mayor Mark Sutcliffe.
• More than 10,000 expected participants across roughly 200 groups largely remained stuck near city hall and never marched.
• The board describes severe capacity limits and reports pressure, including threats to pull funding, and says it will meet with Q4P‑O and reach out to affected participants before next year.
