Capcom Uses AMD FSR Frame Generation for Dragon’s Dogma 2 on Nintendo Switch 2

Interpolating a 30 FPS base to appear like 60 FPS, the feature gives players a toggle to choose smoother motion or the native frame rate.

  • Capcom confirmed Saturday at Tokyo Game Show that the Switch 2 edition of Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen will use AMD FSR frame generation to make a 30 FPS base look like 60 FPS.
  • The company says the demo at TGS had frame generation fixed on but the retail release will let players turn the feature on or off and tune their experience.
  • Capcom acknowledged that the interpolation can sometimes produce visual artifacts such as slight ghosting around moving effects or UI, and it has made adjustments to reduce the input lag that frame generation can introduce.
  • This is Capcom’s first use of frame generation on Switch 2 and comes as other ports, including Stellar Blade, have announced FSR or similar interpolation and upscaling options for the console.
  • Frame generation creates intermediate frames by estimating motion between rendered frames rather than drawing every frame natively, which can smooth motion but may occasionally be visually incorrect and will leave core gameplay timed to the 30 FPS base.
