Capcom Reveals Boost Bracer That Reworks All Weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance

A single new weapon modifier aims to change each weapon's playstyle ahead of a Tokyo Game Show demo.

Overview

  • Capcom began publishing daily weapon-focused trailers on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026, starting with the Great Sword and using one video per day to show how each of the 14 weapons will change.
  • The Boost Bracer adds a Boost gauge that fills when players land special 'Boost Driver' attacks and, when activated, grants a temporary powered state that unlocks new moves, combos, and enhanced properties for that weapon.
  • The Great Sword trailer shows concrete examples including sprinting while unsheathed to perform running Offset attacks, chaining multiple Offset Attacks, and boosted charge slashes up to a super True Charged Slash.
  • Capcom will continue the trailer rollout through mid-September and plans a playable Ascendance demo at Tokyo Game Show where more details on per-weapon balance, charge counts, and cooldowns are expected.
  • Design reaction so far notes a faster, more aggressive tempo that some journalists compare stylistically to Devil May Cry, which raises excitement and questions about how Ascendance will interact with Wilds' existing systems and difficulty balance ahead of the expansion's 2027 release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC with a Switch 2 version in development.
