Capcom Expects Fiscal Recovery with Monster Hunter Wilds Launch

Despite a 33% drop in net income and a 16% decline in net sales, Capcom remains confident in surpassing last year's net profit due to upcoming releases.

  • Capcom reported a 33% year-on-year drop in net income to ¥23 billion ($148.2 million) and a 16% decline in net sales to ¥88.9 billion ($572.7 million) for the nine months ending December 31, 2024.
  • The company attributes the decline to the absence of major new releases during the period compared to the prior year, which included the launch of Street Fighter 6.
  • Monster Hunter Wilds, the next entry in Capcom’s flagship series, is set to release on February 28, 2025, and is projected to drive strong fourth-quarter results.
  • Sales of catalog titles, including Monster Hunter and Resident Evil 4, increased year-on-year, rising from 26.7 million units to 28.61 million units.
  • Capcom has also announced new projects, including a sequel to Okami and a new mainline Onimusha game, as part of its strategy to expand its intellectual property portfolio.
