Capcom Confirms Resident Evil Requiem, RE7 and Village for Switch 2 on Feb. 27, 2026

The move brings Capcom's RE Engine slate to Nintendo's new hardware as native downloads after years of cloud-only Switch versions.

Overview

  • Resident Evil Requiem will launch on Switch 2 the same day as PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, marking a fully simultaneous release on February 27, 2026.
  • Capcom also dated Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Gold Edition and Resident Evil Village Gold Edition for Switch 2 on February 27, with DLC content bundled in each package.
  • Nintendo Direct trailers showed the games running natively on Switch 2 hardware rather than via streaming, including Requiem’s first- or third-person play options.
  • Early impressions highlight visual cutbacks and roughly 30 FPS on Switch 2 compared with other platforms, with a PS5 trailer republish showcasing higher-fidelity lighting and detail.
  • Requiem stars FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft in a story set about 30 years after Raccoon City, while rumored ports of RE Engine remakes such as Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 remain unconfirmed ahead of the series’ 30th anniversary in March 2026.
