Capcom Confirms Leon S. Kennedy as Playable Co-Lead in Resident Evil Requiem With Feb. 27, 2026 Launch Date

Developers say the campaign alternates between action-driven Leon chapters and Grace’s survival-horror sequences in nearly equal measure under a new threat called Elpis.

Overview

  • The Game Awards trailer showcases an older Leon in action, including over-the-shoulder gunplay, his signature roundhouse, and turning a chainsaw on enemies.
  • Director Akifumi Nakanishi says Leon and Grace’s playable time is almost equally split, in a structure reminiscent of Resident Evil Revelations.
  • Capcom positions Grace as the tense, stealth-and-survival lead and Leon as the combat-focused counterpart to create a deliberate tension-and-release rhythm.
  • The new footage introduces antagonist Victor Gideon and references the Elpis pathogen, with narrative ties back to Raccoon City and the Wrenwood Hotel.
  • Resident Evil Requiem launches February 27, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC; Capcom also revealed a Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT collaboration for Leon after a PlayStation Store leak preempted the reveal.
