Capcom Calms PC Fears for Resident Evil Requiem, Dismisses Leon ‘Leaks’

The six-year project shifted from a shelved online multiplayer concept to a tighter single-player survival-horror experience to better match what fans expect.

Overview

  • Capcom told investors it does not expect Monster Hunter Wilds–style PC performance problems, citing differences in gameplay, system architecture, network features, and broad optimization targets.
  • Producer Masato Kumazawa labeled circulating Leon S. Kennedy eyepatch images and related DLC chatter as “fake news” and urged fans to rely on official Capcom communications.
  • Originally built as an online open-world game, the project returned to single-player after internal reviews found the multiplayer version’s horror was too mild, though some undisclosed elements were retained for fun.
  • Development has spanned about six years and began before Resident Evil Village, with a renewed emphasis on fear, a vulnerable new protagonist in Grace Ashcroft, and optional first- or third-person perspectives.
  • No playable demo is planned ahead of launch, with release set for February 27, 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
