Capcom Announces Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance Expansion for 2027

Capcom frames Ascendance as a content reset that raises late-game challenge with Master Rank, returns large Elder Dragons, introduces a skybound region.

Overview

  • Capcom revealed Ascendance at Summer Game Fest on Friday and confirmed the expansion will arrive in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
  • The expansion adds the Skybound Eyrie, a network of floating islands players will reach by riding Seikret updrafts and gliding between ruins.
  • A new Boost Bracer gauntlet will let hunters supercharge weapon moves for fresh attacks, combos and mobility to meet higher Master Rank difficulty.
  • Developer Takuro Hiraoka is directing Ascendance and Capcom also announced a Nintendo Switch 2 port of Wilds that has no release date and has not been tied to the expansion.
  • Ascendance follows a year of patches that fixed Wilds' early PC performance problems and added harder content, and Capcom positions this Iceborne-sized DLC as a bid to broaden platform reach and restore the game's long-term reputation.
