CaoCao Mobility Opens Driverless Robotaxi Tests in Hangzhou

Overview

• CaoCao Mobility announced on Monday that it has begun small-scale driverless Robotaxi tests in Hangzhou’s Binjiang District to validate no-driver operation on real city roads.
• The trial uses a site-triggered dispatch method that only sends vehicles on designated routes from specific pickup points to keep operations controllable while engineers collect performance data.
• All test vehicles are connected to CaoCao Zhixing’s RAS remote-safety service, which provides continuous cloud monitoring, emergency call response, remote assistance, and real-time incident handling.
• The program builds on an April regulatory approval that made CaoCao the first firm in Hangzhou cleared for no-driver road tests and on an existing ~100-vehicle Robotaxi fleet and a ‘green smart island’ hub for charging and vehicle servicing.
• CaoCao frames the trials as a step toward commercial scale under Geely’s RoboX plan with a targeted 2027 mass production of the Eva Cab and a 2030 goal to deploy large fleets, though further testing, regulatory sign-off, and operational experience are still required.
