Overview

• The Canyon Fire ignited near Holser Canyon Road northeast of Piru shortly after 1:30 p.m. and grew to 1,052 acres by early evening.
• Firefighters have recorded zero containment as flames threaten Halsley Canyon and Hathaway Ranch.
• Officials have issued mandatory evacuation orders for the Lake Piru Recreation Area and surrounding Ventura County communities and evacuation warnings for parts of Los Angeles County including Val Verde, Oak Canyon and Romero.
• Ventura and Los Angeles County crews have deployed engine strike teams, bulldozers, hand crews and air tankers to suppress the blaze.
• No casualties or structural damage have been reported and investigators continue probing the fire’s cause.
