Overview
- Canva publicly launched Canva Craft on October 22, 2026, and made it available to all users through the Dream Lab tab on the Canva app.
- Craft uses a two-stage process that first interprets a user prompt and builds a design plan covering element placement, scale, and text before generating a final image up to 2K resolution.
- The model was trained on millions of human-made Canva templates such as posters, social posts, presentations, and infographics so outputs convert into editable, layered designs via Canva Magic.
- Canva is exposing Craft to developers through its API and to third-party agents via the Model Context Protocol and is building faster, lower-cost variants called Craftfast and Craft-ultrafast.
- Canva frames the move as a way to cut reliance on outside providers, control operating costs and tightly link generation with creative analytics after the MagicBrief acquisition, and independent benchmarks already rank Craft among leading image models.
