Overview

• The day concluded at 20:00 with the production “A defensa da vila. María Soliño,” staged by Teatro de Ningures from a script by Xosé Manuel Pazos.
• More than a hundred participants took part, including a portrayal of María Soliña wearing a sambenito, the penitential garment mandated by the Inquisition.
• Thousands attended as Cangas hosted guided routes, historical ambientations, a children’s workshop, and a period market in the Xardíns de Soage.
• About fifty people joined the A Illa dos Ratos guided route held in honor of the 1617 defenders earlier in the day.
• The commemoration recalls how eleven corsair ships entered the Ría de Vigo in 1617, looted Cangas for three days, abducted residents, and how roughly four years later Soliña faced a witchcraft case before the Galician Inquisition.
