Canadiens' Arber Xhekaj Fined Maximum for Unsportsmanlike Conduct

Xhekaj retaliated against Maple Leafs' Paré following a knee-on-knee hit on Habs forward Laine.

Arber Xhekaj of the Montreal Canadiens was fined $3,385.42, the maximum allowable under the NHL's collective bargaining agreement.
The fine came after Xhekaj punched Toronto Maple Leafs' forward Cédric Paré during a pre-season game in Montreal.
Xhekaj's actions were in response to a knee-on-knee hit by Paré that injured Canadiens' Patrik Laine, who left the game and is out indefinitely.
Xhekaj received multiple penalties for the incident, including a minor penalty, a 10-minute misconduct for instigating, a major penalty for fighting, and a game misconduct.
The money from the fine will go to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
