Canadian Solar to Invest $800M in Indiana Solar Panel Factory, Creating 1,200 Jobs by 2025

New facility set to reach full production by end of 2025, producing 5 gigawatts annually; plant supported by up to $10.1 million in state incentives,including tax credits and training grants.

  • Ontario-based Canadian Solar Inc. is investing $800 million in a new solar panel factory in Jeffersonville, Indiana, creating approximately 1,200 jobs by 2025.
  • The factory is set to commence production by end of 2025, with a projected output of about 20,000 high-power solar panels daily.
  • The facility will be located at the River Ridge Commerce Center in Jeffersonville, a city along the Ohio River and just north of Louisville, Kentucky.
  • The solar cells manufactured at the Jeffersonville facility will be shipped to Canadian Solar’s module assembly plant in Mesquite, Texas.
  • The project has received up to $9.7 million in tax credits and up to $400,000 in training grants from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.
