The twin emergencies spotlight high-altitude hazards at Bir-Billing, prompting renewed safety scrutiny.

  • She lost her route en route to the Chogan landing zone and went down near Talan Jot at roughly 3,900 metres, according to the paragliding association.
  • Kangra district authorities and the Bir-Billing Paragliding Association ran a coordinated air-and-ground operation, with rescuer Rahul Singh reaching the site and staying overnight.
  • Her remains were moved to Gaggal Airport for post-mortem and transfer to New Delhi to be handed over to the Canadian embassy, officials said.
  • During the retrieval, teams rescued a foreign pilot named Jacob from about 3,302 metres in the Polling-Barot valley and dropped him at Chogan, with reports differing on his nationality; the incidents come after 26 crashes and 12 deaths in five years in Kangra and Mandi.
