Canadian Health Programs Expand Nature Prescriptions for Free Park Access

The PaRx initiative allows healthcare professionals to prescribe nature visits, improving mental and physical health while promoting conservation.

Halton Healthcare has partnered with the PaRx program to provide free access to local conservation areas through nature prescriptions.
Patients can receive up to 10 free visits to parks or a Parks Canada Discovery Pass for unlimited access to national parks and historic sites for a year.
Nature prescriptions aim to improve mental health, lower stress and blood pressure, and encourage healthier lifestyles.
The program, endorsed by the Canadian Medical Association, is now available nationwide with over 16,000 registered healthcare providers.
PaRx also seeks to foster environmental awareness by connecting people to nature and encouraging pro-conservation behaviors.
