Canada's Population Reaches 41.3 Million with 0.6% Growth in Q2

Population growth driven mainly by international migration, with Alberta leading provincial increases.

Statistics Canada reports an addition of 250,229 people in the second quarter of 2024.
The growth rate of 0.6% is slower compared to 0.8% in Q2 2023 and 0.7% in Q2 2022.
International migration contributed 240,303 people to the population increase.
The natural increase, accounting for births and deaths, added 9,926 people.
Alberta experienced the highest growth rate among provinces at 1.0%, while the Northwest Territories had the lowest at 0.1%.
