Canada Presses U.S. for Answers After Canadian Dies in ICE Custody

Canadian consular officials requested more information from U.S. authorities after his death was referred to the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office.

Overview

  • Johnny Noviello, a 49-year-old Canadian and lawful U.S. permanent resident, was found unresponsive on June 23 at the Federal Detention Center in Miami and pronounced dead after medical staff administered CPR and used a defibrillator.
