Camuzzi Launches $3.9 Billion LNG Del Plata to Export Vaca Muerta Gas

The project shifts LNG exporting to Puerto La Plata using a floating plant with first operations targeted for 2028.

Overview

  • Camuzzi’s LNG Del Plata plans capacity of more than 2.4 million tonnes a year, equivalent to over 9 million cubic meters of gas per day.
  • The development will install a floating liquefaction vessel off Puerto La Plata with a new 10 km subaqueous pipeline, an offshore mooring platform, and upgraded links from Buchanan to Ensenada.
  • Initial works are scheduled to begin in 2026, and the company reports advanced negotiations with a top-tier international FLNG specialist.
  • Camuzzi is in talks with Buenos Aires provincial authorities, including Governor Axel Kicillof, and intends to seek RIGI benefits along with provincial tax stability.
  • The dual model exports in summer using spare pipeline capacity and eases winter demand at home, with company projections of about 500 direct jobs and roughly $14.5 billion in export revenue over 20 years.
