Campinas Opens 2,000 Free Mammogram Slots as Bragança Paulista Rolls Out Mobile Unit

Health officials say earlier detection can cut breast cancer deaths by up to 30%.

Overview

  • In Campinas, scheduling starts on October 1 via Disque Saúde (160) on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., with no medical referral required and targeting women 40–49 without a mammogram in over a year and 50–74 without one in over two years.
  • Exams in Campinas are allocated across partners, including Hospital de Amor’s mobile unit (800), CRAIM (650), CAISM Unicamp (120), Radiologia Clínica de Campinas (120) and Hospital Santa Tereza (200).
  • In Bragança Paulista, the state mobile unit will operate from September 29 to October 10 at the Parque de Exposições, serving walk-ins by order of arrival with 50 daily tokens, Monday to Friday 8 a.m.–5 p.m. and Saturdays 8 a.m.–noon.
  • Eligibility for the Bragança unit requires ID and SUS card for ages 50–69, while women 35–49 and 70 or older must also present a medical request.
  • The Health Ministry in 2025 updated guidance to recommend mammography starting at age 40 by medical indication and extending screening to age 74, which local campaigns are now implementing.
