Campillo Leads Qatar Masters by 1 Shot as Third Round Cut Short by Fading Light
Campillo has one hole left in round three and can secure his fourth European tour win; Finland's Valimaki, with clubhouse lead, needs win to secure PGA Tour card.
- Jorge Campillo holds a one-shot lead in the third round of the Qatar Masters, which was suspended due to fading light. The Spaniard has the 18th hole left to finish when play resumes on Sunday.
- Should Campillo win the tournament, it would mark his fourth victory on the European tour, his second win this year after the Kenya Open in March, and his second time winning the Qatar Masters following his 2020 triumph.
- Finnish player Sami Valimaki held the clubhouse lead with a third consecutive round of 67, placing him 15-under par for the tournament, but he trails Campillo by one shot on the leaderboard.
- Valimaki, who earned his only title to date in Oman in 2020, has an opportunity to secure a PGA Tour card for next season. To do so, he must be one of the top 10 players not otherwise exempt on the season-ending DP Race to Dubai rankings.
- Robert MacIntyre is in third place, a shot further adrift, and has two holes left to play in his third round. Sean Crocker, Scott Jamieson and Nacho Elvira are tied in the clubhouse on 13 under.
