Camilla Tours Site of Upcoming King Charles III Sacristy at Westminster Abbey

The Queen is patron of the £13 million project aimed at enhancing visitor experience and preserving historical architecture.

The new King Charles III Sacristy will be built on the original footprint of Henry III's medieval Great Sacristy from the 1250s.
Construction is set to begin early next year, with completion anticipated in 2026.
The project will include state-of-the-art welcome, ticketing, and security facilities for major state occasions.
Camilla, who expressed enthusiasm for the project, toured the site and viewed archaeological finds, including ancient burials.
The development will allow visitors to enter Westminster Abbey through the historic Great West Door, enhancing the ceremonial experience.
