Camden Man Charged With Murder, Wife and Son Accused in Alleged Dismemberment

Prosecutors detail surveillance, phone data, purchases and witness evidence from the Camden home underlying the charges.

Overview

  • Everton Thomas, 41, was charged on Sept. 5 with the murder of Harold “Hal” Miller Jr., 48, according to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.
  • Sherrie Parker, 41, and Deshawn Thomas, 22, face counts of desecration of human remains and tampering with evidence.
  • Detectives say video and cellphone data show Miller entering a Baird Boulevard residence on June 12 as a single gunshot was captured, and he was not seen leaving; Thomas was later seen moving Miller’s car to Pennsauken.
  • Authorities report Parker and Deshawn bought a chainsaw, containers, trash bags and cleaning supplies, and surveillance showed multiple trips to Tamarack Apartments dumpsters with containers and bags.
  • After a June 20 search found Thomas with a loaded firearm and suspected bloodstains at the home, he fled to Canada and was arrested Sept. 8 at the Port of Buffalo; he is held in New York pending extradition, while Parker and Deshawn are jailed in Camden County.
