Camden Father Charged With Murder; Wife and Son Accused in Dismemberment of Missing Man

Everton Thomas awaits extradition from New York after a border arrest, with his co-defendants held at the Camden County jail.

Overview

  • Prosecutors charged Everton Thomas, 41, with first-degree murder plus desecration of human remains and evidence tampering, and charged Sherrie Parker, 41, and Deshawn Thomas, 22, with desecration and tampering.
  • Video and cellphone data show Harold “Hal” Miller Jr. entering the Baird Boulevard residence on June 12 just before a sound like a single gunshot, and he was not seen leaving.
  • Investigators say Parker and Deshawn Thomas bought a chainsaw, containers, trash bags and cleaning supplies, and surveillance later captured Everton and his son making trips to nearby dumpsters.
  • A June 20 search found a loaded firearm on Everton Thomas and bloodstains inside the home that forensic testing identified as Miller’s, while Miller’s vehicle was later recovered in Pennsauken.
  • Authorities say Thomas fled to Canada and was arrested at the Port of Buffalo by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and Parker and Deshawn were taken into custody by a U.S. Marshals task force; Miller’s body has not been found.
