Overview
- The new station will welcome its first passengers on Sunday, June 28, 2026, after construction completed and opening was formally confirmed by GBR Anglia.
- Greater Anglia, Great Northern, Thameslink and CrossCountry will serve the station with up to nine trains per hour in regular service and as many as 20 services an hour at peak times.
- Passengers will gain a direct 45-minute link to London King’s Cross or Liverpool Street that replaces a longer trip that previously required a train, bus and walk.
- The station includes sustainability and access features such as a green roof with solar panels, rainwater capture, integration with Hobson’s Park, 1,000 cycle spaces and blue-badge bays.
- Backed by about £250 million of government funding with extra local and private contributions, the hub is expected to carry up to 1.8 million journeys a year and to improve access to jobs, healthcare and research on the biomedical campus after earlier delays in construction.
