California Teen Charged with Quadruple Murder Pleads Not Guilty

Prosecutors Seek to Try the 17-Year-Old as an Adult as Investigation into the Heinous Crime Continues

  • A 17-year-old boy, identified by the initials R.I., has been charged with the murder of four members of a neighboring family in Reedley, California.
  • The victims, identified as Billy Bond, 81; his son, Darrell Bond, 61; granddaughter-in-law, Guadalupe Bond, 44; and grandson, Matthew Bond, 43, were found dead in their home and in a garage on the teenager's property.
  • The teenager has pleaded not guilty and remains in juvenile custody. Prosecutors have filed a motion asking that he be tried as an adult, which could lead to a life sentence without parole if convicted.
  • The teenager's mother and her boyfriend have been charged as accessories after the fact and are currently free on bond.
  • Police have suggested a possible motive involving a safe in the victims' home that held guns and money, which had been forced open and emptied.
