  • Store owner Laura Ann Carleton was shot and killed outside her clothing shop in Cedar Glen, California after a dispute over a rainbow Pride flag displayed outside.
  • The suspect, identified as Travis Ikeguchi, made disparaging remarks about the Pride flag and yelled homophobic slurs before shooting Carleton.
  • Ikeguchi fled the scene on foot but was located by authorities and fatally shot after firing on deputies during a confrontation.
  • Ikeguchi had frequently posted anti-LGBTQ+ content on social media platforms and shared far-right views.
  • Carleton was known as a supportive ally of the LGBTQ+ community, though not a member herself, and often replaced torn down Pride flags with larger ones.
