California Parents Charged with Murder After Toddler Found Buried

Redding couple accused of killing their 2-year-old daughter and unlawfully burying her in a national park.

Riley and Amanda Royal were arrested on charges of murder and child abuse resulting in death after their 2-year-old daughter's body was discovered.
The investigation began in January 2024 when police conducted a welfare check at the Royals' home and found the child missing.
Authorities allege the child died in October 2023 following physical abuse and was buried near Whiskeytown National Recreation Area.
A second child found in the home has been placed in protective custody by Shasta County Children’s Services.
The Royals are being held without bail and are scheduled for arraignment in Shasta County Superior Court.
