California Mortgage Executive Charged with Murder in Fatal DUI Crash

Serene Francie Rosenberg, 48, is accused of driving under the influence and causing a collision that killed an 88-year-old man in Dana Point, California.

Serene Francie Rosenberg, president of OCMBC's LoanStream Mortgage, allegedly ran a red light and struck a Ford Transit van head-on while driving under the influence.
The crash, which occurred on January 31, 2025, in Dana Point, California, resulted in the death of 88-year-old Melvin Joseph Weibel and injured the van's driver.
Rosenberg, who has three prior convictions, was arrested at the scene and is facing charges including murder and DUI causing injury.
Following the incident, OCMBC placed Rosenberg on administrative leave and permanently replaced her as president with John Hamel, the former Chief Capital Markets Officer.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department is continuing its investigation and requesting witnesses to come forward with additional information.
