California Man Charged in Courthouse Bombing That Injured Five

Nathaniel McGuire, 20, allegedly planned to kill deputies and a judge after his firearms were confiscated.

Nathaniel McGuire, 20, was charged with maliciously damaging a building by means of explosive after an incident at the Santa Maria Courthouse.
The explosion injured five people, all of whom were treated and released from the hospital.
Authorities found a cache of weapons in McGuire's car, including a shotgun, a rifle, ammunition, a suspected bomb, and 10 Molotov cocktails.
McGuire allegedly planned to kill deputies and a judge, motivated by anger over a previous firearms arrest.
A federal judge has ordered a mental health evaluation for McGuire following an outburst during his arraignment.
