California Man Arrested for Decapitating Elderly Parents and Family Dog

Joseph Gerdvil, 41, was apprehended after a deputy-involved shooting and faces multiple charges.

Authorities discovered the decapitated bodies of Ronald and Antoinette Gerdvil, both in their late 70s, and their Chihuahua in a San Juan Capistrano mobile home.
Joseph Gerdvil was found covered in blood, chasing a maintenance worker, and later stole a golf cart to flee the scene.
A deputy shot Gerdvil near a bike trail; he was hospitalized in stable condition and will face two counts of homicide.
Investigators have not disclosed a motive for the killings, and additional charges are expected.
The Orange County District Attorney’s Office will review the deputy-involved shooting, with body camera footage to be released.
