California Man Arrested at LAX for Alleged Attempt to Smuggle Meth-Soaked Clothes

Raj Matharu, 31, was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport on November 6 while attempting to board a flight to Sydney, Australia.
Two suitcases containing over 70 pounds of clothing soaked in methamphetamine, including a cow pajama onesie, were flagged during an X-ray screening for irregularities.
Law enforcement confirmed the clothing was soaked in a methamphetamine solution and dried, with over one kilogram of meth residue extracted from the items.
Matharu has been charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years in federal prison if convicted.
He is currently free on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled for arraignment on December 2 in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.
