Overview

  • A merged Four Corners and offshore high-pressure ridge is forecast to drive Central Valley and interior Southern California temperatures to 105–115°F from Friday through Sunday.
  • Heat advisories and extreme heat warnings cover much of the Inland Empire, Coachella Valley and Central Valley through Friday, with some deserts under warnings through the weekend.
  • The Gifford, Rosa and Gold wildfires in Southern California could intensify as rising temperatures and dry conditions increase fire behavior.
  • Strengthening onshore flow and a persistent marine layer will keep coastal and bayshore zones up to 40°F cooler than interior valleys this weekend.
  • Forecast models show the merged dome could maintain above-average August heat into next week, extending health and fire weather risks.
