California Fire Captain Fatally Stabbed in Suspected Domestic Violence Case

Rebecca Marodi, a veteran firefighter of over 30 years, was found dead in her Ramona home, with investigators identifying her wife as the main suspect.

Rebecca Marodi, 49, was discovered with multiple stab wounds in her home in Ramona, California, on February 17, and pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts.
Authorities are treating the case as a potential domestic violence incident, believing Marodi knew her attacker, and have named her wife, Yolanda Olenjniczak, as the primary suspect.
Olenjniczak, who also goes by Yolanda Marodi, has a prior felony manslaughter conviction from 2000 and is currently at large, with her whereabouts unknown.
Marodi dedicated over three decades to Cal Fire, rising to the rank of captain in 2022 and recently helping battle the Eaton Fire in Los Angeles County.
Investigators are urging anyone with information on Olenjniczak’s location or the case to contact the San Diego County Sheriff’s Homicide Unit or submit tips anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
