An 18-month-old spider monkey named Violeta is recovering at the Oakland Zoo after being rescued during a Vallejo narcotics raid that also seized methamphetamine and rattlesnakes.

This female spider monkey was surrendered by the owner to the Solano County Sheriff’s Office during a narcotics related search warrant on Thursday, May 8, 2025 in Vallejo, Calif. The spider monkey is now under the care of the Oakland Zoo and zoo staff have named her Violeta.
