California Couple Engaged After Finding Ring in Fire-Destroyed Home

Brian McShea proposed to Stephanie Raynor after recovering an engagement ring from the rubble of their Altadena home lost to the Eaton Fire.

Brian McShea and Stephanie Raynor lost their Altadena home to the Eaton Fire, which destroyed over 16,000 structures and killed at least 28 people in Los Angeles County.
McShea had been planning to propose before the fire but left the engagement ring in a desk drawer as the couple evacuated on January 7.
Returning to the rubble, McShea searched the area where his desk once stood and miraculously recovered the ring, which he thought might have been destroyed.
McShea proposed to Raynor on the spot, wearing protective gear, and she accepted tearfully in the midst of the ruins of their home.
The couple plans to rebuild their lives and remain in Altadena, a community they describe as special, while also preparing for their future wedding.
