Organizer Felix Ortiz, pictured Wednesday on the lawn of the Old Courthouse Square in Santa Rosa, said he was forced to cancel a Father’s Day rodeo that was expected to draw thousands of people. A festival celebrating the culture of Oaxaca, Mexico, however, is planned to proceed as planned on July 13.

Overview

  • More than 1,618 people have been arrested in Los Angeles since early June under President Trump’s daily ICE arrest quotas, federal data show.
  • Municipalities across Los Angeles County, including Cudahy, Bell Gardens and Boyle Heights, have called off parades, fireworks and community gatherings over safety concerns.
  • Federalized National Guard troops and U.S. Marines remain stationed at detention sites but are largely absent from street patrols, escalating tensions with Governor Newsom and prompting Posse Comitatus Act challenges.
  • Immigrant rights advocates and city officials have filed lawsuits accusing the administration of unconstitutional enforcement tactics and seeking court orders to halt ICE operations.
  • Protesters continue daily demonstrations in downtown Los Angeles, staging bridge blockades and “No Kings” marches to demand an end to what they describe as an occupation by federal forces.
