Overview

  • The 22 selected series are projected to generate about $1.1 billion in in‑state economic activity and employ roughly 6,500 cast and crew plus more than 46,000 background performers.
  • Applications jumped nearly 400% compared with last year, and the film commission said every qualified project in this round secured a credit.
  • The revamped program raised the annual cap to $750 million, increased credits to as much as 35% in greater Los Angeles and up to 40% outside the region, and broadened eligibility to half‑hour shows and other formats, with animation and large‑scale competition shows pending final regulations.
  • Most of the awarded productions plan to shoot in the Los Angeles area, with four slated to film at least partly outside that zone.
  • Notable recipients include Apple TV+'s The Studio, an HBO series from Larry David, CBS's NCIS: Origins, and Warner Bros.' Presumed Innocent, and two series relocated to California, including Tom Segura’s Bad Thoughts moving from Texas.
