California Awards $116 Million in Film Credits to 28 Features, Led by Snoop Dogg Biopic

Officials say the expanded $750 million program will keep productions in California, with this slate estimated to generate $562 million.

  • Ang Lee’s Gold Mountain received about $7.7 million to film in Sacramento County over 50 days, with $31 million in projected in‑state spending and a combined 228 cast and crew.
  • Indie boxing drama Guerrero, directed by Gina Rodriguez, was granted $4.4 million to shoot in Los Angeles.
  • The 28 projects are expected to employ 4,837 cast and crew and log 22,614 background workdays across 831 shooting days, with 17 films planning to shoot outside Los Angeles as the next TV application window opens January 26, 2026.
