Calgary Search Continues for Missing 11-Year-Old Autistic Boy

The case has prompted calls for a new 'Indigo Alert' to close gaps in how missing neurodivergent children are notified to the public.

While officially not an Amber Alert, Calgarians are made aware of an Alberta Emergency Alert for Parker who has been missing from his day home for a week. A Calgary woman is calling on the province to create an indigo alert that would be used when vulnerable children, such as those with autism, go missing.

  • Parker, an 11-year-old autistic non-verbal boy, was last seen in the 5000–6000 block of Travis Crescent on July 16 and has been the subject of an Amber Alert.
  • The search has entered its eighth day with more than 550 police officers joined by fire-rescue teams, helicopters, drones, search dogs and thousands of volunteers canvassing north Calgary.
