Calgary Flames Sign Tyson Barrie to One-Year Deal

The veteran defenceman joins the Flames after a professional tryout, extending his NHL career into a 14th season.

Tyson Barrie, a 33-year-old defenceman from Victoria, has signed a one-year contract with the Calgary Flames worth $1.25 million.
Barrie was initially invited to the Flames' training camp on a professional tryout contract after being passed over in free agency.
With 505 career points, Barrie ranks 11th among active NHL defencemen as he prepares for the 2024-25 season.
Known for his power-play expertise, Barrie has previously played for the Colorado Avalanche, Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, and Nashville Predators.
Flames head coach Ryan Huska, who coached Barrie in junior hockey, believes Barrie's offensive skills will enhance the team's power play options.
