Overview

• Officers moved to arrest the suspect around 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the 500 block of Crescent Road NW in Calgary’s Crescent Heights neighbourhood.
• Police say he fired into a nearby home that had people inside, who sheltered until they were rescued.
• The man then entered an unrelated residence and shot at tactical officers, striking an armoured rescue vehicle.
• A woman accompanying the suspect surrendered at about 5 p.m., and police confirmed the man was found deceased inside the home shortly after 7 p.m.
• No residents or officers were injured, a shelter-in-place order and traffic detours were issued, and the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team was called to investigate.
