Overview
- EA Sports named Williams the cover athlete for Madden NFL 2027, using his fourth‑and‑eight jump pass to Rome Odunze as the cover image.
- Saquon Barkley publicly praised Williams and said “it can get scary” if the quarterback reaches his full potential, congratulating him on joining the Madden cover group.
- Williams posted 3,942 passing yards and 27 touchdowns in 2025, set the Bears’ single‑season passing record, won the NFC North, and delivered a key playoff comeback throw that raised his profile.
- Analysts still point to measurable concerns from his early career—low completion rate and heavy sack totals—that could limit consistency unless protection and accuracy improve.
- The Week 3 matchup in Chicago on Sept. 28 against Barkley’s Eagles is being framed as an early on‑field test that will show whether Williams can sustain the progress that earned him broader recognition.
