  • A division bench of Justices Soumen Sen and Smita Das De dismissed all petitions challenging the May 30 notification and weightage criteria for the fresh recruitment drive.
  • The court affirmed the exclusion of identified tainted candidates from vying for 35,726 assistant teacher posts in state-run and aided schools.
  • Under the revised 2025 rules candidates will be assessed on a 60-mark written exam, 10 marks each for teaching experience and lecture demonstration, 10 for academic qualifications and 10 for interview performance.
  • More than 5.5 lakh applicants had registered by mid-July ahead of the July 21 deadline, exceeding projections for the revamped drive.
  • Selection tests are now slated for early September, pending the outcome of review petitions filed by the state government and the WBSSC.
