Cal Hires Former Washington State Coach Nick Rolovich as Senior Offensive Assistant

Rolovich returns to college football three years after being fired for refusing to comply with Washington's COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

Nick Rolovich, 45, has been hired as a senior offensive assistant for the University of California's football program under head coach Justin Wilcox.
Rolovich was fired from Washington State University in 2021 for not adhering to the state's COVID-19 vaccine mandate, citing religious objections that were ultimately denied by the university.
He filed a $25 million wrongful termination lawsuit against Washington State, which remains unresolved after parts of it were dismissed in 2023.
Rolovich's coaching career includes a 28-27 record at Hawai'i, where he was named Mountain West Coach of the Year in 2019, and a 5-6 record during his brief tenure at Washington State.
Cal recently announced Bryan Harsin, former head coach at Boise State and Auburn, as their new offensive coordinator, with Rolovich joining the revamped offensive staff.
