Overview

• Deputies found a woman and young boy shot inside a home on Oakwood Road around 9 p.m. Thursday, with the woman dying at the scene and the boy later dying at a hospital.
• Investigators identified 47-year-old Cameron Park resident Darin McFarlin as a person of interest, located him after midnight in Mono County, and took him into custody.
• Jail records list two first-degree felony murder charges for McFarlin, who was booked into the El Dorado County Jail and is being held without bail.
• A second juvenile who lives at the residence was located safe, according to the sheriff’s office.
• Cal Fire said it is aware an employee was arrested, and public profiles identify McFarlin as a captain in the Amador–El Dorado unit with roughly 25 years at the agency.
