Cal basketball player Fardaws Aimaq, whose parents are Afghan refugees, was allegedly called a 'terrorist' by a fan during a game against UTEP.
Aimaq confronted the fan in the stands after the game, a move that has been criticized by his coach, Mark Madsen.
Madsen has requested a formal investigation into the incident and asked for the fan to be barred from the premises.
The incident took place during the SoCal Challenge tournament in San Juan Capistrano, California.
Aimaq's agent, Daniel Poneman, stated that Aimaq has been subjected to similar abuse in the past, but this is the first time he has reacted.
