CaixaForum Barcelona Unveils 2025–26 Lineup With Matisse Loans, Monet Reappraisal and a British Museum Pacific Show

Major loans secured through international partnerships aim to sustain CaixaForum’s strong attendance.

Overview

  • ‘Somos naturaleza’, an immersive National Geographic experience, opens in Barcelona on 17 September 2025 after premiering in Montreal and is scheduled to run through 6 April 2026.
  • The Matisse retrospective co-produced with the Centre Pompidou brings around thirty works from Paris, opening in Madrid on 28 October 2025 and in Barcelona from 26 March to 16 August 2026.
  • ‘Desenfocado. Otra visión del arte’, developed with the Musée de l’Orangerie, debuts in Madrid on 16 September 2025 and runs in Barcelona from 20 May to 27 September 2026, arguing Monet’s blur was a deliberate aesthetic.
  • ‘Voces del Pacífico. Innovación y tradición’, organized with the British Museum, opens in Barcelona on 6 November 2025 with more than 200 objects and is slated through 15 February 2026.
  • CosmoCaixa keeps the ‘Extraterrestres’ exhibition on view through August 2026 and adds a real Siberian mammoth to its permanent displays, as last year’s attendance reached over 600,000 at CaixaForum and about 1.15 million at CosmoCaixa.
