Overview
- CaixaBank reported a €4,962 million net profit for January–September 2026, a 12.9% rise, and its board approved a €1,281 million interim dividend payable on 6 November 2026.
- Unicaja posted a €543 million net profit for the same period, up 8.1%, and approved a second cash dividend of €0.0642 per share payable on 17 December 2026 while planning to return about 95% of 2026 net income to shareholders.
- CaixaBank extended its share buyback programme by three months to 30 January 2027 with a maximum envelope of €500 million and reported a CET1 ratio of 12.5% for September.
- Both banks said higher market interest rates and stronger commercial activity pushed up their net interest margins and fee income, even as they faced rising deposit costs and, for CaixaBank, a €452 million banking tax charge.
- The moves raise immediate cash returns for investors but put a spotlight on capital management and balance-sheet resilience, so regulators and markets will watch capital ratios, loan quality and the execution of buybacks and dividend plans.
